Before You Sell Event Tickets

by admin on March 20, 2012

Lately, we’ve been talking to musicians and performers around the world to learn more about what works for event ticket sales and we discovered a few things. No group is too small or too new to hold a successful event. All it takes is a a little determination, a little dedication, and a not-unreasonable amount of work.

Are you working for a popular cause?

Fundraisers seeking to raise awareness and money for legitimate causes can usually count on good event sales as long as they know how to stay in touch with their base and find a way to put a human face on the cause. For instance, if you’ve been inspired to raise money for literacy in honor of a deceased love one, you’ll want to publicize your event by personalizing it as a memorial. Let the story be known: how your loved one inspired you to this cause, how their life was dedicated to it. Name your charity after your loved one. Brand it with their picture. Your fans will be inspired to help while they see you keeping the memory alive.

If your event is in aid of a school or sport team, remind your supporters who they’re helping! Use images of kids in uniforms if at all possible: this combination seems to be a great draw for any kind of sales. If you haven’t got uniforms, matching T-shirts help provide a great look of cohesion. Take it to the next level: bring those kids in their matching outfits around with you while you sell event tickets or publicize your message.

When your organisation is well-known, you can depend on recognisable brands. But if you’re a new group, you’ll want to create that brand. If you can create a logo, that will help tag your message. Even if you haven’t got a logo, an interesting event name can help create word-of-mouth buzz. Keep using your event name and your group name in your messages. Make sure you’re searchable online. Let everyone know what you stand for, whether it’s fighting cancer, playing rock and roll, or offering kids a safe space to play video games.

Keep working to spread your message, and you’ll find it much easier to start selling your event tickets.
